Star baker helps out church and Lanarkshire charities with annual Christmas cake creations

If she knew you were coming she’d have baked a cake, or two, or three...!

A member of an international women’s club which promotes friendship and service in the community again felt she ‘kneaded’ to help others out, in the run-up to Christmas time.

Star baker and Motherwell & Wishaw Inner Wheel Club member Marjorie McGeary is well-known for her prowess around an oven.

Marjorie, from Law, has been busy weighing, mixing, and watching the rise of her Christmas cake creations which are being sold to help her local church and a number of worthy charities.

As in previous years Marjorie has been a busy bee, baking and selling the cakes, the proceeds of which are split between her own church, Wishaw South Parish, and the Inner Wheel club, as well as several other charities.

Marjorie, who is currently vice-chairwoman of Inner Wheel District 2, said: “Although the Inner Wheel Club of Motherwell & Wishaw are continually supporting local charities throughout the year, this is my own personal way of contributing at Christmas.”

The Motherwell & Wishaw Inner Wheel Club meet at 6pm on the first Tuesday of each month in the Bentley Hotel, 19 High Rd, Motherwell ML1 3HU.
