Stanley Tucci whiles away the hours with Pasta Grannies

You would think that the hardest part of being an actor is the endless line learning or stunt pulling. But according to Stanley Tucci, it’s the hours spent waiting around, “languishing” in the trailer during production.

“You can’t really concentrate on anything,” he says, “because people are constantly knocking on your door going, ‘five minutes!’”. Speaking to Jesse Thorn on the American podcast Bullseye, Tucci says that to pass the time, he watches cooking videos on YouTube.

Pasta Grannies (Pasta Grannies)

His favourite is ‘Pasta Grannies’, where a British woman travels around Italy, filming nonagenarian nonnas making pasta. “I don’t think there’s a woman in it under the age of 75 or 80,” he said, “they just go to all different parts of Italy and these people just make pasta”.

“There’s no production value or anything like that,” he adds. Perhaps this is refreshing for Tucci, whose latest role is in the Amazon Prime series, Citadel. It is one of the most expensive TV shows ever made, coming in at a cool $50 million per episode.
