Arsenal are set for yet another hectic summer transfer window.
The north London outfit are keen to bolster their squad as they look to close the gap on Premier League champions Manchester City, with manager Mikel Arteta keen to strengthen his options, particularly in midfield and defence, football.london understands. However, the Gunners will also be active when it comes to outgoings as they look to offload a number of fringe players to help raise funds for players coming in.
Now, The Evening Standard have reported that owner Stan Kroenke and his son Josh, who is the club's non-executive director, are keen for the club to be self-sufficient. As a result, sporting director Edu is said to know that he needs to command larger fees for players being sold this summer.
Arsenal have a number of valuable assets that could be on the chopping block during the summer window, with the likes of Folarin Balogun, Nicolas Pepe and Austin Trusty all set to leave the Emirates Stadium on a permanent basis, football.london understands. All three players enjoyed successful loan spells during the 2022/23 campaign, particularly young striker Balogun, who netted 21 times in Ligue 1 for Will Still's Reims.
When discussing transfer plans last month, Edu told ESPN Brazil: "It’s identifying very well where we can improve. If they are individual, isolated positions, if they are units, if they are ‘final third’, as we call it here, if they are midfield, defensive part. This diagnosis we already have because we already have a very clear style of play by Arteta.
“Today, you see Arsenal playing and identify with it, you know that is Arsenal’s style. So now it’s time to understand where we can boost the units so that the team can improve and go to another level of performance.

"And I think there is another level, we have one more level. With me and Arteta talking, we find it, we believe that we have a level to improve in terms of performance.
"And now make a good transfer window, understand the need, to get right the athlete, the characteristics, the mentality of the athlete that we want, to once again raise the level of our squad.”
