Stan Kroenke lands third major triumph of 2022 as he backs Arsenal's latest move

Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke has presided over a third triumph in the United States after seeing the Colorado Avalanche claim the Stanley Cup.

The NHL outfit saw off Tampa Bay Lightning 4-2 to wrap-up the seven-game series with an outing to spare. It is their first success in just over two decades and continues a stellar year for the US businessman. The 74-year-old invests in a host of teams across several different sports.

Another of those is Colorado Mammoth, a lacrosse team founded in 2003. They claimed national glory by winning the second title in their history, beating the Buffalo Bandits earlier this summer in a best of three series. Kroenke's most high profile triumph came in the Super Bowl.

He upped and moved his NFL franchise from St Louis to Los Angeles back in 2016 and they saw off the Cincinnati Bengals earlier this year. The Rams claimed victory at their own home, the SoFi Stadium, a 70,000-arena that was recently built and will host games at the World Cup in 2026.

Kroenke said after the Rams' success: “It’s amazing, and I’m just really proud of this group. It was a tough game, and I’m just so proud of them executing at the end like they did.”

The American, for all his success in his homeland, has not seen his English investment do likewise. Kroenke is largely disliked by the Emirates following and he only furthered the disconnect between him and the fans by engaging in attempts to set-up the Super League last year. The Arsenal owner is rarely seen as games but is financing another summer of investment.

Over £100m was spent last term on the likes of Martin Odegaard, Ben White and Aaron Ramsdale. However they narrowly missed out on the top four and Mikel Arteta has been given the funds to go again in the transfer market with a move for Gabriel Jesus imminent.

A £45m agreement has been struck with Manchester City as the club look to add some much needed firepower following the exits of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. Arteta knows the Brazilian having worked with him at City and the move is close with the forward set to sign a five-year deal.

The Gunners have already completed a deal for Portuguese midfielder Fabio Vieira, worth just over £30m. The player moved from Porto and a swoop for Raphinha is also in the pipeline. The Leeds United winger has been a big hit in the Premier League and may leave this summer with Arsenal already seeing a bid for him rejected.
