Stan Collymore has taken to social media to profess his love for Ireland despite having 'no official connection' to the Emerald Isle.
The 51-year-old was born in England and represented his country on three occasions in the mid 1990's.
Born and raised in Tittensor (Staffordshire), Collymore has long been an admirer of Ireland.

Collymore was responding to a Twitter user who asked about his Irish connections. Collymore replied by saying, "No official connection, just an appreciation of a great people, it's culture, resilience and strength."
This isn't the first time Collymore has spoken about Ireland on social media. Back in 2014, Collymore pointed out that Ireland was a 'sovereign state' and that 'we stuck our noses in.'
And in 2011, he even bizarrely sent out a number of tweets in Irish.
He began his career with Stafford as a youngster before playing in the Premier League for Aston Villa and Liverpool among other clubs.
He is currently a football strategist with Sheffield United, a role which he has held since 2021.
