Stan Collymore has hit out at Aston Villa fans after a video emerged of fans singing a chant that made reference to striker Tammy Abraham's race.
The former Bristol City star is on loan at Villa this season and has fully recaptured the Championship form he found for the Robins two seasons ago, firing Dean Smith's side into the play-offs.
Yet, in the aftermath of Sunday's 2-1 semi-final win over West Bromwich Albion, footage appeared online of fans in a pub chanting Abraham's name to the tune of Ram Jam's Black Betty.
It was widely condemned, and former Villa star Collymore shared his thoughts on the matter on Twitter.
He said: “Tammy Abraham song. Not funny.
“There have been enough black players who've done the business for our club, honour them by singing about their ability, goals, skill, attributes.
“Colour? Nope, never. P*** poor.
“If you don't want our club to be be tagged with some others who have rap sheet as long as your arm, don't let fellow fans, wearing our colours demean one of our players in the most basic of ways.”
He added: “'Play that funky football, White Jack'.
“None of you reading this, none, would remotely think of using any song with white in and your favourite player.
"So don't do it with black players!”
