Stalker sent Hanham woman pizza and kebabs

A man subjected a woman to a campaign of unwanted attention including sending her pizza and kebabs. A court has sent him for mental health assessment.

Goncalo Borges, 24, of no fixed address, admits stalking the complainant between March and September last year. He appeared for sentence at Bristol Crown Court today. (June 14, 2022)

The case involves Borges repeatedly contacting the Hanham woman via social media, which included sexually explicit messages. He also repeatedly went to her address and workplace.

It is said further activity included him sending the woman food including pizza and kebabs. He also set up a fake social media account profiled by her personal photos.

Emily Evans, defending, said a medical report recommended an interim hospital order to assess her client's mental health. This would involve him being transferred from HMP Bristol to Fromeside Hospital for up to 12 weeks.

The recorder Mr David Chidgey sanctioned such an order. He told Borges it would help the court decide the appropriate sentence.

Mr Chidgey said: "I am satisfied on the evidence of two doctors that Mr Borges does suffer from autism spectrum condition. It would be appropriate for a hospital order to be made in this case."
