Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin handed over the ‘Living Craft Treasure’ ( Kaivinai Pokkisham) Awards and the Poompuhar State Awards of the Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited to 20 artisans at the Secretariat on Wednesday.
The Kaivinai Pokkisham Awards were conferred on 10 artisans aged above 65. These awards are given away at a cost of ₹15 lakh every year. Each of them comprises an eight-gram gold medal, a ‘thamirapathiram’, a certificate and a cheque for ₹1 lakh, an official release said.
Mr. Stalin also handed over the Poompuhar State Awards to 10 artisans. The awards, aimed at encouraging their talents, are given away at a cost of ₹12 lakh every year. Each comprises a four-gram gold medal, a ‘thamirapathiram’, a certificate and a cash component of ₹50,000.
Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises T.M. Anbarasan, Chief Secretary V. Irai Anbu and senior officials were present.
