This is the chilling moment a machete -wielding killer fixed his hair and cycled off, moments after leaving his teenage victim to bleed to death, captured on camera.
Cam’ron Dunn violently killed Derlano Samuel, 17, by stabbing him repeatedly.
Loved ones paid heartbreaking tribute to the teenager who died on May 1, 2021.
But moments after the brutal murder, Dunn rushed into a nearby shop and hid the weapon, checking his hair before glancing out the door and cycling to safety.
The 19-year-old left his victim for dead in Smethwick, West Midlands and those few chilling moments were caught on camera, Birmingham Live reported.
Detective Inspector Hannah Whitehouse, from West Midlands Police ’s homicide team, branded the disturbing moments “staggering”.
She helped bring the killer to justice and said the moment Dunn left the murder scene calmly “sticks in her mind”.
Today, Dunn was locked up for life for using the Rambo-style blade he hid in his waist band to kill Derlano.
Det Insp Whitehouse said: "The thing that sticks in my mind, as well as the brutality of the actual offence, is Dunn going into a shop as he’s run off and taking his time to get himself together - to put the knife away, either in a sheath or inside his jacket or a bag, we’re not sure.
"He just takes a second, he checks his hair, looks out the shop to check that he’s safe to leave and then goes back out to his push bike which he’s left on its side on the street and cycles off.
"That is the conclusion of such an awful, violent attack.
"It’s just really staggering that he takes that time just to check everything’s OK before he then makes his escape."
Dunn, of Sketchley Close, Smethwick, was handed a minimum term of 20 years at Wolverhampton Crown Court today.
He denied murder and claimed he acted in self-defence, but was convicted by jurors in only one hour 35 minutes back in March.
Derlano crossed towards the murderer before he was stabbed twice just before 4:10pm on the day of the attack.
The 17-year-old, who was not armed, “ran for his life” and ended up in the back store room of a shop where the vicious onslaught continued.
He was stabbed seven times in five seconds before Dunn fled the scene.
But he was later arrested in the early hours of the morning the following day, after being recognised by an officer.
Delano left the shop “heavily bleeding” and was found dead in a white Ford Focus around 5:25pm.
The murder unfolded in a busy shopping area which meant detectives saw in "graphic detail what happened at every single stage" thanks to CCTV footage, Det Insp Whitehouse said.
Officers have admitted they still don’t understand the motives behind the savage killing but Judge Michael Chambers QC, who sentenced Dunn at Wolverhampton Crown Court has since insisted gang rivalry played a part.
He previously said: "It was clearly gang-related by a young man who was using knives. It's clearly tragic, it's clearly serious."
The murder weapon used to fatally wound the teenager has also never been found.
Det Insp Whitehouse said: "Searches were undertaken to try and recover the weapon.
"The identity of the suspect was established very quickly due to neighbourhood officers having identified him from CCTV.
"They had good knowledge of offenders in their area and they were able to identify him and he was arrested a few hours after the offence.
"His house was thoroughly searched and some other weapons were recovered but not the murder weapon.
"There was a search that took place along the route that he took. It has not been found, so we think the offender disposed of it at some point before reaching his home address."
