Stagecoach launches new service connecting two Scottish cities

STAGECOACH has launched a new service connecting Dunfermline with Stirling.

It started on Monday and the X22 service calls at Oakley, Blairhall and Alloa and will provide journeys up to every hour, seven days a week.

The new bus service will enable students attending the University of Stirling to connect with Midland Bluebird’s Unilink service at Stirling Bus Station.

There have been calls for a better service between Dunfermline and Stirling for years and in February data suggested up to 400 students would use the bus.

Douglas Robertson, managing director of Stagecoach East Scotland, said: “Service X22 offers new and improved travel opportunities for commuters, students and leisure travellers between Dunfermline, West Fife and Stirling, including travel to Springkerse Retail Park, up to every hour.

“We look forward to seeing customers benefit from low-cost tickets, improved journey times and increased frequencies in the area.”

A new ticket has also been introduced which will offer those travelling between Alloa and Stirling a return journey for £5.50.

This can be purchased on board the X22 for return travel on the same day.
