Staff numbers up by 30% as orders at online delivery giant Foodhub hit 34 million

Online food delivery giant Foodhub has grown its workforce by almost 30 per cent after seeing orders surge to 34.4 million in 2021.

The Fenton company experienced growth in every category last year, including number of restaurant partners, employees, territories operated in and food orders.

It's end-of-year figures show that employee numbers grew from 772 to 986 last year, representing an increase of 27.7 per cent, while orders jumped by more than 25 per cent to 34.4 million – from 27.9 million in 2020.

At the same time, Foodhub increased its worldwide partner network by a huge 53.6 per cent from 18,351 to 28,011.

Now the company – whose biggest rivals are Just Eat and Deliveroo – is looking forward to further growth over the next 12 months.

Foodhub CEO Ardian Mula said: "I am incredibly proud of everything we achieved at Foodhub in 2021, from growing in every major business category, to bringing on board a number of exciting new talents from the local area.

"To do all this in the face of an ongoing pandemic, with additional stresses on each and every one of us, is something that I’m particularly proud of."

During 2021, Foodhub opened a new specialist contact centre at its Duke Street base to provide an 'enhanced service' for its customers.

It also acquired Australian food delivery app, Eat Appy, and launched a £100 million bid for private equity funding to help supercharge its global expansion.

Mr Mula – who started Foodhub in 2017 with his Stoke-on-Trent school friend Mohammed Shakil – has credited much of last year's success to the company's growing workforce and new 'key' appointments.

He said: "This year, we're looking to go even bigger and do even better. So if you're a local person who thinks they can help take Foodhub to the next level, then get in touch.

"We would love to hear from you – and look forward work together in the future."

Foodhub's new recruits include Basharit Hussain, who was brought in at the top end of the firm as a business development manager, and Chloe Woodward who is responsible for boosting Foodhub’s social engagement and improving customer interactions.

Chloe said: "There is always something new and fun to be working on at Foodhub, it's a very fast-paced environment and the company continues to grow and improve every single day.

"There is always something to celebrate or shout about in the office and that's down to the team's hard work and dedication to building our brand.

"We have a saying at Foodhub which is 'One team, One will, One Family', and I can honestly say that it is exactly how it is."

Other key appointments include subject matter expert Bob McCutcheon and Tom Cooper who works as a business intelligence analyst at the company, helping to identify potential areas of improvements at Foodhub.

There are dozens of vacancies up for grabs at Foodhub, at its UK headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent as well as other territories including India, Australia and New Zealand. Visit the company's website for more information.
