Stadium 'reviewing plan' after Pink concert 'spoiled' by parking chaos

Stadium bosses have promised to review their plans to stop hundreds of Pink fans being stranded in their car park again.

Fans said they didn't get home until the early hours of the morning after 'total and utter' chaos followed the first gig of Pink's European leg of her tour. The American singer played to 35,000 people at the University of Bolton Stadium, many of whom were then stuck for hours in traffic as they tried to get home.

Lisa, from Broadgreen, shared a warning for people attending today's Pink concert at the stadium not to drive to the venue due to the queues to get out the car park until 1.30am, calling the situation 'a joke'.

She told the ECHO: "The concert was amazing. However the ground and exiting was just a shambles. No staff or police were present to help navigate cars out.

"We got to the car park just before 11pm and didn’t leave it until after 1.30am. Signs were up saying expect delays until 2am but we didn’t think that it was going to be that long. It ruined a really good night."

Pink is set to play the stadium once again tonight, as bosses vowed to prevent a repeat of last night's chaos.

In a statement published this morning, a spokesperson for the stadium said they were 'reviewing the traffic management plan' ahead of the second performance by Pink tonight, reports the MEN.

A spokesperson for the University of Bolton Stadium said: "Following an incredible opening night of Pink's sensational Summer Carnival Tour 2023, at which we welcomed over 35,000 people to the University of Bolton Stadium, we are aware that some concert-goers experienced traffic and congestion issues when departing the site.

"Working closely with the relevant authorities, we are reviewing the traffic management plan in place ahead of this evening's show, with a view to mitigating these issues and improving the experience for all those visiting the stadium for tonight's second concert."

Fans said the show was 'spoilt' by the hours long wait before they could get back. On Facebook, Kerry Charlton said: "It was a brilliant show spoilt by getting out. Three hours to get out of car park.

"Nothing moving, complete gridlock. Who decides to shut roads when there is a major event on?"

Abbie Crowe said: "The Show was amazing! Getting out was ridiculous.

"I’ve drove to so many concerts and [I am] used to the queues but never anything like last night. It was carnage, no staff or police anywhere in sight to help what was going on.

"If you’re going tonight, I’d walk as many miles as you can away from the place and then park."
