Stacey Solomon may be high on hormones as she prepares to welcome her fifth child but she wasn't quite 'prepared' for her son's latest question. The Sort Your Life Out host took to Instagram to share how she and her husband Joe Swash had 'shed a tear' when their three-year-old son asked them for a different haircut.
Stacey, who is heavily pregnant with the couple's third child together, shared how the youngster normally asked for a 'Thor haircut', alluding to his long, blonde locks. However, as his older brothers, Zachary and Leighton, headed for their latest trim, he asked teenager Zach if he could have his hair done just like him.
Taking to her Instagram Story, the 33-year-old shared a video of Rex in the chair at the barbers as his enviable curls were cut. "Wasn't prepared for Rexy asking for [a] Zachy hair cut today," Stacey typed alongside a crying laughing emoji. "Usually every time we come to the barbers it's 'Thor haircut please' but it's his hair so I'm excited for him..." she added alongside an emotional emoji.
She then returned with an update, sharing a string of images with her 5.5. million followers showing the results of Rex's first major haircut. The toddler was all smiles as he posed for the camera while showing off his freshly chopped locks.
"Rex’s Big Boy Haircut," the Loose Women panelist started the caption of her post. "Today we went for our usual barber trip with the boys but this time Rex asked for 'A Zachy (big brother) Haircut' instead of his usual 'Thor hair' request."
She added: "Me & Joe may have shed a tear [crying laughing emoji]. But we’ve always said it’s his hair, his choice. You look so handsome Rexy we love you so so much. Our big boy." Stacey's dad, David Solomon, was among the first to reply, writing: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO," before adding a crying laughing emoji.
He added: "Yes he looks Gorgeous but noooooooooooo why. He did want it to be fair such a handsome chap just like Grangrad." Meanwhile, Stacey's sister Jemma posted multiple crying emojis before typing: "You look so grown up Rexy Roo …. I wonder what Huds will say."
And Stacey's celeb pals were also quick to respond, with Rochelle Humes simply commenting with a string of love heart eye emojis while Sophie Hinchliffe, who is known by her legions of fans as Mrs Hinch, replied: "Oh Rex. Gorgeous gorgeous boy. Why do you look so grown up. Can you and Ron please slow down growing now." Loose Women co-star Katie Piper also penned: "So cute."
Fans, however, were quick to spot how Rex's new haircut left him looking for like his former EastEnders star dad. @lifeatsophs said: "He is Joe’s mini." @emmchezfan commented: "He really does look like a blonde version of Joe here. Bless him." @kitkat15789 echoed: "He's looking more and more like Joe the older he gets."
@lisab_entley replied: "He looks like his daddy." Others shared how the change made him suddenly more 'grown up' while others said he was preparing to become a big brother again to his new baby brother or sister.
While she gave her son the choice about his hair, there wasn't something Stacey couldn't let go of. Later returning to her Instagram Story, the former X Factor star and Queen of the Jungle posted a picture of her hand which was gripping onto her son's chopped locks.
"No idea what I'm going to do with this but I couldn't leave it on the barber floor," she wrote alongside a crying laughing emojis. She then posted a picture of her gripping onto Rex's hand before bed as she emotionally said: "Thank you for all of your lovely messages... Rexy was FaceTiming everyone. He loves showing them his new hair.
She added: "And him and his big brothers spent all night chatting about it! Happy Monday everyone. Love you lots," while also including a quote which read: "You may one day outgrow my lap, but never my heart."
