Stacey Solomon has admitted that finding out she was pregnant for the fifth time was a 'shocker' as she responded to fans' reaction to her announcement. The Sort Your Life Out presenter delighted fans on Wednesday evening (December 28) when she revealed that she and her husband Joe Swash were expecting again.
The couple, who tied the knot in a stunning ceremony in the garden of their family home, share two children, three-year-old son Rex and 14-month-old daughter Rose, while Stacey is also mum to sons Zachary and Leighton and Joe who is dad to teenage son Harry from previous relationships.
Announcing the news of their impending arrival, Stacey posted a heart-warming video on her Instagram page to her millions of loyal followers. In the video, Stacey could be seen telling Joe to enter the bathroom as she held out the pregnancy test to show him the results.
"What you holding?" the former EastEnders star asks with a big grin. "You're joking!" he exclaims as he clocks the result before embracing Stacey, who he met after she won I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here, and telling her: "This is the best news bubba."
Stacey, who affectionately refers to her children as her 'pickles', then wrote in the caption of her post: "Me + Him =" followed by six emojis to represent their children. She went on: "So grateful & can not believe I’m saying this… Another little pickle is on the way… A HUGE surprise, but one that we are so thankful for to the moon & back bub."
The congratulatory messages soon came flooding in as Stacey took to her Instagram Story to say: "I know I've been so quiet... didn't really know what to say," alongside a crying laughing emoji and the emoji of the monkey covering its eyes. "So excited to share this shocker with you all... love you lots," the 33-year-old then added.
And as she was inundated with sweet messages, Stacey returned to her Instagram Story where she candidly admitted what was really making her nervous about expecting her fifth child.
In an update shortly after the announcement, the Loose Women panellist said alongside a faded snap of her smiling in a festive jumper: "Your messages are so beautiful. I have sooooo much to catch up with you all…
"I’m just trying to enjoy this crazy bit between Xmas and NY where no one knows what day it is with all the pickles… Honestly you’re all so bloody sweet and kind and I can’t wait to come on here and tell you EVERYTHING."
She then went on to confess: "I can’t believe we are having another baby! We are soooo excited. I’m nervous for my noon. But so so excited." Fans previously thought Rose would be Stacey's last child after she opened up about the couple's loss when announcing her then-fourth pregnancy.
She took to her Instagram story at the time to say: "Sorry I’ve been so quiet… But we have something we are excited to share with you… I feel so nervous for so many reasons." She then posted a video of a negative pregnancy test and a form reading 'complete miscarriage' adding: "For a really long time we have been trying for another pickle… It didn’t work out and this was our news quite a few times…"
Stacye shared how she and Joe already felt 'lucky' to have their boys, adding that it was the "biggest privilege in life" and that "we stopped trying and counted ourselves so so so blessed already..." Stacey then followed it up with a photo of her and Joe's hands entwined.
"For while now I've felt so yuck and even though I thought about what it felt like I didn't even want to go and check at first because well, just because, you know (I don't even like to write it)," she wrote. "But yesterday we went to check what was going on... And we were so grateful to hear an extra heartbeat my tummy". Stacey then went on to give birth to daughter Rose on her 32nd birthday in October 2021.
