Stacey Solomon says Matt Hancock on I'm A Celebrity is ‘kick in the face’ after she was unable to see gran in lockdown

Former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! champion Stacey Solomon has weighed in on former Health Secretary Matt Hancock's appearance on the ITV reality show. She told Loose Women co-stars, Carol McGiffin, Lynda Robson and Kaye Adams that it feels like a "kick in the face".

The 33-year-old was talking about married Hancock's notorious cheating scandal, which saw him resign as Health Secretary last year. Stacey began: "When it comes to cheating, I just don’t understand why, when you have a choice to turn around to somebody and say, 'Do you know what? I’ve got feelings for someone else, I’ve not acted upon them yet, but I don’t think this is gonna work ’cause I like this other person,' when you can do that out of respect for that person, I can’t wrap my head around why you’d just do it anyway and not tell them."

On Hancock’s jungle signing, the former X Factor star continued: "And also, he’s sitting there, I don’t know, you know, I love my grandma but I didn’t get to see her for two and a half years and I weren’t snogging her. It feels like a kick in the face."

Stacey would not be alone in her feelings about Matt Hancock's appearance in the jungle. Carol said: "I don’t even like saying his name," declaring that she wouldn't watch I’m A Celebrity until he is voted off. Linda Robson, meanwhile, jumped to the MP's defence and said that she thought he was being "bullied" in camp.

ITV has been heavily criticised for signing Hancock, who has since been suspended from his day job due to spending 10,000 miles away from his constituents while on the show. Wales, however, appears to be divided on his inclusion, which you can read more about here.

The new series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! airs every night at 9pm on ITV and ITV Hub. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
