Stacey Solomon's thrifty Christmas as she makes huge cutbacks amid cost of living crisis

Stacey Solomon is planning a thrifty Christmas this year amid the current cost of living crisis.

The Sort Your Life Out star, 33, is known for her love of DIY and says she wants to recycle as much as possible ahead of the festive season.

Taking to Instagram, the mum-of-four said: "I want to try and make my decorations out of things I already have and can find in my garden.

"I love making stuff so much and have collected so much over the years, it seems a waste to buy anything new, but it's also nice to have a little change each year.

"Also, I know so many people find Christmas expensive anyway so I thought I'd find as many ways to decorate for next to nothing as possible and maybe we can share ideas.

"It will be a nice, less-pressure way to decorate this year."

Stacey lives in a £1m mansion with her hubby Joe Swash and is one of TV's most in-demand presenters, however that doesn't mean she doesn't recognise what's going on around her, according to reports,

A source told Heat magazine: "She [Stacey] really wants to be liked by her followers and knows that it's an incredibly hard time for everyone right now.

"The last thing she wants to do is start to flaunt her wealth and privilege and start to alienate everyone who is struggling to make ends meet."

Stacey will be sharing her secrets for a thrifty Christmas in a new BBC show called Craft Your Own Christmas with her sister Jemma.

In a teaser ahead of the programme's launch, a voiceover says: " Stacey Solomon, with a little help from her family and friends, is showing us how to have the most magical Christmas ever without breaking the bank, sharing tips on how to make hand-made gifts and decorations that cost next to nothing – but mean so much more than anything you can buy from the shops.

"There will be tips and hacks galore for a homemade holiday, as Stacey transforms a barn next to Pickle Cottage into a Christmas grotto to host a festive party for her local community heroes."

Stacey added: “Christmas is one of the most magical times of the year! There’s no better feeling than giving someone the perfect gift, especially when it’s one I’ve made at home with my little helpers. DIY gifts mean so much more and save a bit of money too, as do hand-crafted decorations which we love making for our tree.

"I can’t wait to share my Christmas gifting and decorating tips and tricks with everyone at home, helping make this Christmas extra special without breaking the bank."
