Stacey Solomon insists her children won’t inherit her millions: 'They will have to forge their own path'

Stacey Solomon has stressed that she and her husband Joe Swash make sure their children understand the importance of earning their own money, insisting that they “don’t have inherited wealth to pass down”.

The couple shares three children: Rex, five, Rose, three, and Belle, two. She also has two older sons, Zachary, 17, and Leighton, 12, from previous relationships, while Swash has a 16-year-old son, Harry, with a former partner.

As their new family reality show gears up for release on BBC One, the pair have opened up about their family rules.

The 35-year-old, whose net worth is estimated at £5 million, explained that their children earn pocket money by helping with chores around their home, Pickle Cottage.

Looking ahead, they plan to encourage their kids to stand on their own feet as they grow older.

She told The Mirror: “We don’t have some sort of inherited wealth that we can pass down for generations.. It’s vital they understand that this is our career, and we’ll support the family however we can. But one day, they will have to forge their own path.”

Solomon, who gained fame on 2009’s X Factor, credited her father, a photographer, for teaching her the value of financial independence.

“My dad didn't treat us any differently, as soon as we got jobs, we had to contribute. I was excited to earn my own money and be financially independent. I want my children to be excited for that too,” she continued.

“It's a wider picture of their self-worth and their happiness in general. I want them to feel accomplished and have things. It's very difficult to go through life without needing anything or wanting anything. I don't want to leave them in that position.”

The couple are gearing up for their fly-on-the-wall reality series, Stacey & Joe, which they announced in January.

The series will give fans a rare glimpse into life at Pickle Cottage, following their daily lives, capturing moments with their children, four ducks, and two dogs.

Filmed during the summer and autumn of 2024, the show highlights key milestones such as the couple’s second wedding anniversary, Zach's anxious wait for his GCSE results, and Solomon’s big win at the National Television Awards.

Stacey & Joe airs on Tuesday, April 1 on BBC One at 8pm
