St Patrick's Day 2023 Liverpool parade route and timings

The much loved St Patrick's Day Parade is returning to Liverpool next month, with a vibrant parade kicking off at the Old Irish Centre on Mount Pleasant.

St Patrick's Day is every March 17 and is a cultural and religious celebration. It's held on this date as it's believed to be the traditional death date of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland.

In Liverpool, it's often an enormous occasion with bars, clubs and pubs celebrating in style while those keen to get out on the town don green and drink the day away.

As in previous years - bar the cancellations endured during the coronavirus pandemic - Liverpool will see a huge parade march through the city in honour of St Patrick's Day.

The parade really started to gather traction in 2015, when Declan Doolin, then just 18, took over and helped turn it into the annual celebration that's so well known and popular to this day.

This year marks the parade's seventh foray into the city. It will begin at the Old Irish Centre on Mount Pleasant from 2.30pm, before moving off at 3.30pm. The parade will go down Hope Street, Upper Duke Street, Berry Street, Renshaw Street, Ranelagh Street, Hannover Street and Seel Street.

The parade will finish at Fitzgerald's Irish Bar on Slater Street. Along the route, various bands will perform to keep the masses entertained. The Fianna Phadraig Pipe Band will perform, with others yet to be confirmed. You can find out more about the event and its route via the organisers' Facebook page here.
