Saints boss Jim Goodwin looks set to finally land Hibs midfielder Alex Gogic.
But the future of star midfielder Jamie McGrath looks set to go down to the wire ahead of this evening's transfer deadline yet again.
St Mirren manager Goodwin has been a long-term admirer of Cyprus international Gogic, having initially tried to sign him before he eventually moved from Hamilton to Easter Road.
Having fallen well down the pecking order under Shaun Maloney, the 27-year-old is free to leave Edinburgh and looks set to move along the M8 to join the Buddies later today.
Reports that McGrath was set to move to Hibs yesterday have been quashed, with the Ireland international now understood to not be following in the footsteps of several other formers Saints by moving to Easter Road.
His signature is still highly-coveted though, particularly given he is free to agree a pre-contract with another club, but the possibility of him seeing out his current deal in Paisley appears to be more likely.
The same was said about the last transfer window though, when a last-ditch bid from Hibs that involved cash and Scott Allan and Drey Wright moving to the SMISA Stadium fell through having only missed the deadline by a couple of minutes.
