St Mirren are still in the race to sign Northern Ireland international Conor McMenamin.
The Buddies were keen on bringing the Glentoran forward to Paisley and had three initial offers turned down by the Belfast club.
Manager Stephen Robinson stated after the Saints pre-season friendly with McMenamin's Glentoran on Wednesday night that they would "move on" to other targets after failing to agree a fee.
But now the Belfast Telegraph report that St Mirren are still hopeful a deal can be struck for the 27-year-old, who made his Northern Ireland debut last year and has gone on to feature regularly for this country.
Robinson told the Northern Irish paper after a pre-season friendly with Linfield: “I don’t think it’s (the deal) dead.
“I haven’t had any updates, but we are waiting to hear back from Glentoran to see where we are with it.
“The vice-chairman has been dealing with it. I know him and Glentoran were speaking, I don’t know where we’re at, but it certainly isn’t the figures that were reported, of that I can guarantee you — we don’t have that kind of money at St Mirren.
“Hopefully there can be a deal struck. We will know more probably in the next 48 hours.”
The Telegraph stated McMenamin is believed to have made his desire to leave for St Mirren clear to Glentoran owner Ali Pour.
If a deal with add-ons can be agreed, the striker could be unveiled by St Mirren over the next few days.
