St Mirren legend Tony Fitzpatrick discusses incredible life story in new video interview

Saints supporters are set to get an unprecedented visual look behind the life story of club legend Tony Fitzpatrick.

The St Mirren hero announced last month that he would be stepping down as chief executive in March.

While the news came as a surprise to many fans, the 65-year-old revealed it was time for him to retire but insisted he would be staying on with the club as an ambassador.

Now the Scottish Cup winner has sat down with YouTube channel Chit Chat with Jed and Co in a wide-ranging interview that covers his life story as well as his entire career with his beloved Buddies.

The show will premiere at 5pm this evening and Fitzpatrick hopes it will give the club’s fans even more of an insight into the story of his career in Paisley.

Fitzpatrick told Express Sport: “It was a real pleasure to be on Chit Chat with Jed and Co and to speak openly about my life story.

“I really hope the audience enjoy it and learn more about my time with the club.”

Chit Chat with Jed and Co has featured some huge names of Scottish sport already, including former Rangers and Man City star Gordon Smith and ground-breaking Scottish women’s football star Rose Reilly MBE.

Host Jed McCabe insists the near two-hour documentary covering Fitzpatrick’s remarkable life story is an incredible watch for every St Mirren fan, covering a range of topics from being made captain by Sir Alex Ferguson to losing his young son Tony aged just six to acute myeloid leukaemia.

McCabe said: “This film is a piece of Paisley history and Tony’s incredible stories will make you laugh and cry.

“I know that there’s lots of St Mirren fans that are already buzzing to see it and hopefully plenty more will be able to tune in and see the great man’s history on video for the first time.

“We cover his early days training with St Mirren as a 12-year-old all the way up to his spells as manager.

“We look at how Fergie helped persuade him to not give up on his football career after being rejected by Aston Villa.

The interview will be available to view from 5pm tonight on the YouTube channel Chit Chat with Jed and Co at this link.
