St Mirren fans can pay tribute to former hero Frank McGarvey when he is laid to rest today.
The Buddies Hall of Famer, who helped the club win the First Division and Scottish Cup in two spells in Paisley, sadly passed away on New Year’s Day after battling pancreatic cancer.
Saints supporters marked his death with a minute’s applause during their trip to Kilmarnock and in their home clash with Hearts earlier this month.
The prolific striker, who also played for Liverpool, Celtic and Scotland during his glittering career, is being laid to rest this afternoon.
A Requiem Mass will be held at St Anthony’s Church and broadcast on YouTube to allow fans to pay their respects. Details of the service were shared by Celtic on Twitter with the club offering condolences.
They posted: “The funeral of Celtic icon Frank McGarvey can be viewed on the link tomorrow (Monday, January 16) at 1pm. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the family and friends of Frank at this difficult time.”
