Stephen Robinson believes football was put "into perspective" after St Mirren 's pre-season friendly with Linfield was abandoned after a fan took ill.
The Buddies were leading the hosts in Belfast on Saturday after Toyosi Olusanya's fine finish at the start of the second half put the visitors in control.
The game was called off with ten minutes left on the clock though after a supporter fell unwell, with Saints boss Robinson insisting it was the right call to finish the game early.
Robinson told St Mirren TV: "It's not nice to see. We send our best wishes. He's sitting up now so hopefully he's OK. We wish his family all the best as well. It's not nice at a game of football. It's an unfortunate end to the game but it puts football in perspective.
"We got minutes in legs. Linfield were quite sharp, there wasn't a lot in terms of levels so it was a good test for us.
"We had some good performances. Toyosi scored today and probably could have scored four. We're creating chances, we just need to work on being more clinical and hitting the target more."
Robinson also revealed the club have offers in for three offensive players, with star midfielder Keanu Baccus set for a month on the sidelines after tearing his calf in training.
He said: "We know we need more bodies in the building to boost our options in every area of the pitch. I'm hopeful. We've got offers in for three players so we're hoping one of those drops, at least.
"Richard Taylor got a dead leg, he'll be out for two or three days. Keanu is more serious. He tore his calf in training two days ago. We're looking at about four weeks before he's back, but hopefully before the start of the season. It highlights the need to bolster the squad."
