St Mirren fan recreates Love Street

A St Mirren fan has rolled back the years as he has recreated a 360-degree video of Love Street.

It was created out of passion as the supporter wanted the next generation of St Mirren fans to see what the club's former stadium used to look like.

Ian Young is the Buddie behind the incredible CGI design of Love Street.

The video allows people to have a full view of what the Buddies' previous home ground looked like by placing the user in the centre of the pitch.

Speaking about creating the iconic Paisley ground, Ian said: “I have done some work in the past where I have recreated some iconic grounds such as Third Lanark and Ibrox in the 1800s.

“There have been times where I have done some freelance work when it comes to creating some computer animation stuff, but I chose to do this as a project because I always like having something to do, it helps me keep learning.

“This was the first time I had created a stadium with seats in it, and it was time-consuming and difficult to make sure I got it right.

“Overall, I am really pleased with how it has turned out as a lot of time has gone into it.”

St Mirren called Love Street home from 1894 to 2009 before bosses opted to build a brand new stadium which allowed the club to upgrade their home as well as clear debts with the sale of the old land.

The 360-degree video can be found on YouTube under the name Ian Young, and each stand is highly detailed to give as realistic interpretation as possible.

Ian added: “Designing the full stadium was a drawn-out process as 60 per cent of the recreation is creating the stadium itself, the other 40 per cent is making sure that the light and detail are correct to give that realistic look.

“It took a few weeks to do and the worst part of doing it was the main stand as it was full of detail, and as I said before this was the first time I had done seats so getting that correct was the main thing."
