St Mirren eye another former Motherwell star as Buddies look to capture Dundee United player

Trevor Carson is reportedly set to reunite with former Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson at St Mirren.

The Northern Irish international goalkeeper was brought to Morecambe on loan from Dundee United by the Buddies boss in January before his switch to Paisley soon after.

Now Robinson wants to sign Carson again as he prepares to lose number one Jak Alnwick, according to the Scottish Sun.

Carson left Motherwell for Dundee United last summer but struggled to dislodge Tannadice stopper Benjamin Siegrist.

He's impressed since heading back down south on a temporary basis and Derek Adams' side are a win against Sunderland away from surviving in England's League One against the odds.

The 34-year-old is set to leave Tayside this summer when he returns from down south and Motherwell's former boss - who brought Carson to Scottish football and Fir Park in 2017 - is prepared to swoop.

Already at the Buddies are former 'Well teammates Charles Dunne, Curtis Main and Richard Tait. Current midfielder Mark O'Hara meanwhile has reportedly signed a pre-contract to swap Lanarkshire for Paisley.

Keith Lasley will also leave his role as assistant manager in ML1 to become Saints' new chief operating officer in the summer. Ex-Motherwell coach Diarmuid O'Carroll is Robinson's number two currently.
