St Mirren complete Kevin van Veen deadline day loan deal

St Mirren have completed a deadline-day move for Kevin van Veen.

Stephen Robinson is a huge admirer of the striker and had attempted to sign him in January - only to be beaten out by Kilmarnock.

However, after thrashing out a loan deal in the final minutes of the summer transfer window, Robinson has now landed his man.

The striker, 33, will join St Mirren on loan from Groningen for the season. It's expected he will travel to Scotland on Saturday to join up with his team-mates.

Van Veen had joined Groningen from Motherwell last summer after a scintillating spell in Lanarkshire. He played 15 times for the club, scoring on five occasions but wished to return to Scotland to be closer to newborn daughter Ivy Rose.

Van Veen had an offer on the table from St Mirren but accepted a loan move to Kilmarnock where he played on 13 occasions. He will now, though, turn out for the Paisley club this term.

A club statement confirmed: "St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of @kevinvanveen  on loan until the end of the season, subject to international clearance.

"We’re excited to welcome Kevin to the club."
