Manager Stephen Robinson believes St Mirren’s trip to Dens Park being postponed for the second time was a double-edged sword for his new club.
The Buddies boss was looking forward to making a swift return to action having only been announced as Jim Goodwin’s replacement on Tuesday morning.
The former Motherwell gaffer has been quickly reacquianted with the Scottish weather though, with last night’s Dundee clash called off due to a waterlogged pitch and today’s training also affected by snowstorms.
While Robinson was hoping to carry the club’s momentum into their meeting with struggling Dundee, he hopes the weather improves in time to make an exciting home bow against Hearts this weekend in Paisley.
Robinson told Renfrewshire Live Sport: “The weather probably rounds everything off this week. Game cancelled, training snowed off.
“But you just have to deal with it.
“With the momentum the club have got at the moment, I think it would have been good to play the game.
“You’d always rather have points on the board, if we’d got them there, rather than games in hand.
“But it is potentially giving me more time with the players. With the snow that came today we didn’t get much tactical stuff done.
“It was 5-a-sides indoors just to get their legs moving. Hopefully tomorrow we’ll be able to get a little more done with them.
“As long as it’s definitely on it’ll be fantastic on Saturday and I’m really looking forward to it.
“It’s a big game with Hearts coming to town. They’ll bring hopefully a lot of fans and hopefully the stadium will be rocking.
“Hopefully we can continue on the form we’re in.”
St Mirren missed out on the chance to leap up to fourth in the Premiership last night, which would have put them hot on the heels on Saturday’s opponents Hearts in third.
While the Jambos have lost their last three Premiership games, including their last two against relegation-battling St Johnstone and Dundee, Robinson is still expecting a very stern test from Robbie Neilson’s side this weekend.
Robinson said: “Hearts have had a super season so far, it’s just the last few games they haven’t got the results they wanted.
“That doesn’t change the fact they’re a very good side with a good manager. They play a nice style of football.
“People make a big deal about runs but it doesn’t make them a bad team. Their position suggests they’re going to be a very tough opposition.
“But we’re at home. We’ll certainly be taking the game to them and getting after them.”
