St Mirren boss Jim Goodwin edging closer to Aberdeen switch as clubs confirm ongoing talks

And now the Saints gaffer's move to the north-east looks even more likely given the Paisley club have given him the opportunity to officially speak to Aberdeen after the clubs agreed a compensation fee.

A Saints spokesperson said: "St Mirren Football Club can confirm that we have been approached by Aberdeen FC to speak to manager Jim Goodwin in relation to their managerial vacancy."

The Buddies press conference, already delayed a day, has been pushed back to later this afternoon in light of the ongoing talks between Goodwin and Aberdeen.

First team coach Jamie Langfield will instead be presented to the media, with the former Aberdeen keeper likely to take the reins on an interim basis for the club's trip to Livingston tomorrow should a deal between the Dons and Goodwin be agreed.
