St Mirren assistant manager Diarmuid O'Carroll has been appointed as a senior coach for the Northern Ireland national team.
The highly-rated coach, 35, has taken on the role as part of the backroom team for the Euro 2024 qualification campaign alongside his club responsibilities.
O'Carroll joined St Mirren from Morecombe having worked as a first-team coach under Stephen Robinson at the club prior to the switch north.
Michael O'Neill has named a newly appointed backroom team for Northern Ireland's bid to reach Euro 2024, with O'Carroll set to play a key coaching role.
However, it will not impact his position at St Mirren with O'Carroll remaining as Robinson's right hand man in Paisley.
A St Mirren statement read: "Diarmuid O’Carroll has been named as part of Michael O’Neill’s Northern Ireland backroom team for their UEFA Euro 2024 qualification campaign.
"The St Mirren assistant manager will remain in his post at Saints but will now also take on the role of senior coach working alongside Michael O’Neill and his newly appointed backroom team.

"The 35-year-old was first-team coach alongside Stephen Robinson at Morecambe and joined St Mirren as assistant manager following Stephen’s appointment as manager in February 2022."
Northern Ireland boss O'Neill commented: "I have watched Diarmuid in action on the training ground and he is a vibrant young coach. I believe he will be a great asset to us."
