St Johnstone WFC seeking to make the most of home advantage in coming weeks

St Johnstone WFC general manager Mark Nisbet is hoping a considerable run of home games can spark a positive spell of form.

On Sunday, for the first time in three months, Saints will be back playing at the Riverside when they welcome Queen’s Park.

Incredibly, it begins a seven-game fixture schedule of consecutive home matches and Nisbet will be looking for his players to take advantage of that.

“It feels like a very long time since we have had a home match and it will be great to play at the Riverside again,” he told the PA this week.

“We feel very comfortable and confident at home so we hope to really build on that.

“It’s always an opportunity to go on a run at home – or away – but, like I say, we feel comfortable and confident at home so a run is exactly what we will be working towards.

“We realise each game will be a tough test and we need to ensure we prepare properly and execute our game plan in each of those games if we are to get the results we are looking for.”

Saints welcome a Queen’s Park side who sit just one place worse off in the Scottish Women’s Premier League 2.

Nisbet added: “I’ve no doubt it will be a competitive match and both teams will have aspirations of picking up the win.

“It’s key for us that we focus on what we are good at and ensure we play with the right intensity and tempo. If we do that I’m confident we can get the right result.”

Nisbet, while not revealing too much, hinted at a couple of changes in the team’s playing style. “We have been testing out a few different ideas in the way we play and that may be apparent at this week’s game and in the coming fixtures,” he admitted.

“We just need to make sure all the players are ready and understand the role they play in making that happen.”

Kick-off at the Riverside on Sunday is 1pm and, as always, St Johnstone season ticket holders enter for free.
