Passionate Perth skipper Liam Gordon has called for a clinical edge to ensure Premiership status is retained.
Saints squandered chances to build on a well-earned two-goal first half advantage in the Highlands on Friday night.
They were made to pay and, in the end, Inverness recovered to net a 2-2 draw thanks to Reece McAlear’s double.
Everything now comes down to Monday evening’s play-off second leg at McDiarmid Park.
“I was saying to the boys not to be too down,” Gordon said of Friday’s result.
“Obviously it’s a sore one, we didn’t want a draw after being two goals up, but that’s football.
“We dust ourselves down and we have a big performance to come now on Monday.
“Of course they will fancy their chances. They’re in the play-off final, I don’t see why they wouldn’t.
“But we fancy our chances as well. If we turn up the way we can, we fancy ourselves.
“We just need to be that bit more clinical in the final third. We had plenty of chances in good areas of the pitch.
“We’ll look at that, we’ll reflect on the performance and how we could do better.”
Gordon added: “First 65 minutes, I thought we were brilliant then we concede the first goal.
“It’s obviously disappointing looking back at it. Having seen the photo, the boy is at least three yards offside.
“That’s in the second phase and there was a head knock before. It’s difficult when a decision like that goes against you.
“It’s disappointing to lose a goal in that fashion and then they score a worldie free-kick.
“At the end of the day, Zander (Clark) has not had a save to make. He’s just picked the ball out of his net twice.
“I thought we did a lot well but could have done better going forward.
“We have another chance to put it to bed and make amends.”
Gordon made sure heads weren’t down after the Inverness turnaround.
“Obviously the boys are disappointed because you lose two goals having been so comfortable in the game,” he said.
“It was 2-0 going on three or four until they scored. It’s a draw at the end of the day and now it’s all to play for.
“Firstly, we were disappointed but that’s just natural.
“After a few words from the manager, Macca, myself and some of the experienced players, we need to remain positive.
“There is so much to play for, so much at stake. Boys can’t have their heads down.”
Like he has all season, Gordon again had a word of praise for the Perth support.
“They’ve been brilliant all season for us,” he said. “I said the other day, it’s just about that final push now.
“We’ve got Inverness at home to stay in the league.
“We know what it’s going to take and with the fans’ backing and support, hopefully we can get that result.
“We want our top-flight status. We don’t want to go down.
“Nobody wants that on their CV, not just me by being a local lad and being a Saints supporter.
“It’s the same for everyone in that changing room. It’s in our hands now and a case of how much do we want it.
“We’ll find out on Monday but I’m sure we’ll get the result.”
