Fair City Saints are trying to help the orphans of Ukraine’s third biggest city with a signed shirt raffle.
In a bid to entice St Johnstone supporters to buy a charity ticket, Fair City Saints are raffling a Saints top, signed by the 2014 cup winners.
The money raised from this will be donated to the Dnipro Kids Appeal, a charity which is chaired by Perth -based Steve Carr.
Raffle tickets for this fantastic bit of memorabilia are priced at £1 per strip.
“We have all seen the horrific scenes coming from Ukraine, and I would imagine it has affected us all in different ways,” reads a post on the Fair City Saints Facebook page.
“I thought as a mark of solidarity from one fan base to another, and beyond, we could raise some badly needed funds for Dnipro Kids.
“Our friend Stevie Carr, an Edinburgh boy who has lived in Perth for many years, and his Hibee pals set up Dnipro Kids to support the wee ones that have had a tough start, even before facing a senseless war in their country.
“On Friday, there had been reports of attacks in Dnipro, but thankfully so far, the bairns and everyone connected to the orphanages are safe.”
The Dnipro Appeal Charity was set up in 2005 by Hibernian football supporters following a football trip to Dnipropetrovsk in Ukraine. The charity provides help and support for orphaned children at the numerous orphanages and foster homes within the city.
