St Helen's police praised for 'hilarious' poem about Wigan woman sent home after attempting to buy 'crack'

St Helen's Police were praised for sharing a 'hilarious' poem about a Wigan woman who was sent home after attempting to buy 'crack' in Newton Le Willows. The force posted the poem on Wednesday morning (November 2), which told the story of a woman who had allegedly tried to buy drugs.

They said that she had tried to 'pull a thicken'' but was 'sent on her way' after being spotted by officers. The rhyming poem quickly caught the attention of social media users, with over 600 likes.

The post then went on to urge people with any information about drug dealings in Newton le Willows to contact police.

The full post read: "Good morning. There once was a 42 year old woman from Wigan, who thought that she'd pull a thicken',

"She didn't want pies or any other snack, she much preferred to visit our town to buy some crack,

"Unlucky for her it wasn't her day. With the Bobbies on duty, she was sent on her way,

"Off she went back to Wigan, an encounter she won't forget, back over the border for chips and pea wet."

When asked by one commenter why she was 'sent on her way' and not arrested, the police comically responded: "We weren't keen on the words that rhyme with it, best option was to send her back over th'ill. Thanks."

The post received hundreds of comments, with many praising the police for the 'hilarious' poem. One person wrote: "Absolutely brilliant sense of humour ha ha."

As another person said: "As a born and bred Wiganer living in St Helens since 1993, I have to say that I find this... absolutely hilarious. Keep it up guys, tremendous work."

Police then went on to urge anyone with information about drug dealing to make contact with them, writing: "If you have any information regarding drug dealing in the Newton Le Willows area, please let us know by either visiting Newton Le Willows police station to speak with one of your local PC's/PCSO's or contacting 101."
