St George man jailed after vile abuse recorded on phone by schoolboy

A St George man who verbally abused a boy ended up in court - after the child recorded him on his mobile phone. Lucasz Blazejczyk told the boy he was a "gay, fat, monkey", Bristol Crown Court heard.

Unbeknown to Blazejczyk his vile tirade was captured on audio and he ended up being charged as a result. The 36-year-old, of Clouds Hill Road, pleaded guilty to ill-treating a child in June last year.

Today (Tuesday, March 1) Judge Euan Ambrose jailed him for a year. He told Blazejczyk: "It was a very prolonged, verbal assault on him. It was shocking in the ferocity and nature of the abuse that you aimed at him - you can be heard screaming at him, abusing him, swearing at him and, when he is in distress, mocking his distress."

Charlotte Evans, prosecuting, said the child could not sleep after the abuse and took the next day off from school. A support team was set up to help him, the court heard.

The court was told that, at the time, Blazejczyk was serving a suspended prison sentence after being convicted of harassment, common assault and criminal damage. A condition of his suspended sentence was that he undergo rehabilitation and education designed to stop him re-offending.

Dianne Heys, defending, said: "He accepts this was absolutely appalling behaviour. He immediately regretted it after the event."

'We all make mistakes. I made a big one'

Ms Heys said her client had been in the UK since 2006 and had always worked, latterly for Bristol Waste six days a week. He gave financial support to a former partner, Ms Heys said.

She told the court: "He says 'we all make mistakes. I made a big one. I lost it'." She added that her client risked losing his accommodation and job if sentenced to immediate custody.
