St Augustine’s Church on Dumbarton High Street opened its Christmas tree festival last Thursday.
The 19th century church has been transformed into a wonderland of light and colour, with up to 18 trees displayed, representing other churches, groups and organisations within the community.
The festival will be open to visitors until December 18 during the hours of 2pm to 4pm, except on December 15 when it will be open from 5pm to 8pm.
Rev Heller Gonzalez outlined how vital the tree display will be in supporting the area.
He said: “I wanted to do it here in Dumbarton as a tool to bring the community together after two difficult years with the pandemic.
“This isn’t a church event but a community event for all of the Dumbarton people.”
On Sunday, December 18, a gala evening at 6pm will bring the festival to a close when during ‘Carols by Candlelight’, trophies will be presented to those who have exhibited winning trees.
Tea, coffee and hot chocolate with shortbread will be served and a donation box will be available for gifts to an agreed charity.
