SSPCA issues appeal after cat cruelly dumped in a bag in Lanarkshire town

The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a cat was cruelly dumped in East Kilbride last week.

The "shivering" pet was discovered by a member of the public after being left behind a block of flats on Geddes Hill in the town on Friday, July 1.

Scottish SPCA inspector Jack Marshall said: “The male tabby cat was found in a purple carry case by someone who lives in the flats. The case had been tied shut and he was shivering.

“He is not microchipped but appears healthy and well looked after.

“He has now been taken to one of our animal rescue and rehoming centres where he’ll receive the care he needs.

“We understand that people’s circumstances can change, but this is not the correct procedure to follow if you can no longer care for an animal.”

Anyone who is struggling to care for a pet and needs advice and support, or anyone with information on this incident, should call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
