The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after 29 quails were found abandoned in Lanark.
Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted to the incident after a member of the public discovered them in three separate cages on January 11.
The birds had been abandoned on East Mains Farm, Newbigging, Carnwath when they were found.
Scottish SPCA Inspector, Dawn Murrie, told Lanarkshire Live: “These 29 quails, which are a mixture of breeds and sexes, were found dumped around early evening not far from the road.
“The hutch is quite distinctive so we are hoping someone may recognise it.
“The quails are doing well and receiving the appropriate care and attention.
“We understand that people’s circumstances can change, but this is not the right way to give up an animal if you can no longer care for them.
“If anyone recognises these quails, please contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
