SSLC exam off to a peaceful start in Kalyana Karnataka

SSLC examination that created anxieties among students owing to the State Government circular making uniforms mandatory went off peacefully without any untoward incident across Kalyana Karnataka region on the first day on Monday.

In many places, girls came to the examination centres in hijab and then took off their headscarves before entering the examination halls. Authorities screened students with thermal scanners and provided hand sanitisers and masks to them.

The district administrations have imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code around the examination centres.

In Kalaburagi district, the examination was held in 173 centres. And, 2,337 supervisors were deployed. There are 46,670 students eligible for the examination.

In Bidar district, Deputy Commissioner Govinda Reddy and Superintendent of Police Kishore Babu visited some of the examination centres to ensure that everything went on smoothly. Deputy Director of Public Instruction Ganapati Baratake said that 1,560 of the total 29,619 students were absent for the examination on the first day.

In Vijayanagara district, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Harshal Bhoyar Narayanrao visited many examination centres in Hosapete, Hagaribommanahalli and Hadagali taluks. He directed the authorities concerned to ensure that all facilities are in place, especially drinking water, in the examination centres. As many as 44,041 students have registered for the examination in the district and 2,305 of them were absent for the first paper.
