Maharajganj: Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Director General Amrit Mohan Prasad on Tuesday visited the Indo-Nepal border and took stock of the security arrangements ahead of the Mahakumbh slated to begin from January 13 in Prayagraj.
The royal bath (Shahi Snan) is scheduled for January 13 and 14 on the special occasions of Paush Purnima and Makar Sakaranti. As devotees from across the country and abroad begin their journey to the Mela, security agencies in Uttar Pradesh and across the nation have been put on high alert.
Strict security arrangements are being made at both external and internal borders of the country in view of the Mela. To review the security at India’s border, SSB Director General reached the Sonouli border on Tuesday afternoon, where he was welcomed with a salute.

Director General issues instructions
The SSB DG inspected the security arrangements along the border and issued several security-related instructions to the officials, keeping the Mahakumbh in mind.
He holds coordination meeting
He also held a coordination meeting with officials from both countries at the SSB check post in Sonauli. The DG also conducted a detailed inspection of the open border by walking through the eastern and western residential areas of the no-man's-land.
DG on India-Nepal ties
Speaking to Dynamite News, the Director General emphasized the strong friendship between India and Nepal and expressed the commitment to further strengthen the ties between the countries.
