SS foundation to help journalists in distress

The Belagavi-based S.S. Foundation will support journalists in distress and their families. Members will not only provide immediate financial support to affected families, but also help them find alternative means of livelihood,

According to Dilip Kurundawade, founding convenor, “Apart from supporting the education of their children, the foundation will help the wives of the journalists get social security pensions and to start a small business.”

At a function in Belagavi on Sunday, Gurunath Kadabur, senior assistant director of information, gave away cheques to the families of three journalists - Chetan Kulkarni, Parashuram Gunjikar and Mahantesh Balikai. He hoped that the journalist fraternity would support each other and ensure that those in need are helped to the maximum extent. Rajshekar Patil, senior journalist, announced that he would donate money to the foundation.

Members of KUWJ, Belagavi Journalists’ Association and others were present, according to a release.
