Spurs player ratings: Super Son, dynamic Doherty, Kane and Kulusevski create, Bentancur shines

Hugo Lloris

Got a hand to Schar's free-kick but couldn't keep it out. He didn't have anything else to do. 6

Cristian Romero

Made a crucial challenge 22 minutes in to deny Willock from point blank range. Was calmness personified and another game where he avoided a yellow card. Needs to do the same in at least one of the next two. 8

Eric Dier

Another solid game in the centre of the back three, organising them as the match wore on. 7

Ben Davies

Terrific glancing header from the Welshman to quickly level the scores after Schar's opener. What he deserved for a good defensive display. 8

Emerson Royal

Some loose passes early on but he grew into the game, worked hard and deserved his goal, poking Doherty's cross over the line and into the net. 7

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Headed over an effort in the first half and battled away in the engine room alongside Bentancur. 7

Rodrigo Bentancur

Picked up a yellow card in the first half after a scuffle but was composed from then on and got another 75 minutes under his belt where he looked a top drawer Premier League player. 8

Matt Doherty

Took a little while to work out how to affect the attack from the left but he did exactly that early in the second half, diving in to head home Kane's cross at the back post. He then added an assist with a cross to Emerson to poke home Tottenham's fourth. Another big performance from him. 9

Dejan Kulusevski

Busy down the right and he picked out Son for Spurs' third to add another assist to his collection. That made it five assists since he joined in the Premier League, more than any other player in the competition since that moment. He also had a hand in Tottenham's fourth goal. He created four chances in all, as many as Newcastle's players in total. 8

Harry Kane

Earned an early yellow card for a tactical foul after he lost the ball and sent a show wide of Newcastle's goal. Then grabbed an assist with a cross to Doherty at the back post early in the second half to score. He turned creator again to put Kulusevski away down the right for Son's goal. Set up Son for another big chance as well. 8

Son Heung-min

Curled a probing cross into the box for Davies to head home and then added a goal to his assist, controlling Kulusevski's ball into the box and burying it past the keeper. Could have had another soon after from Kane's ball. Really in his groove again and the goals and assists continue to flow. 9

Subs

Lucas Moura

The Brazilian came off the bench with some driving runs and played his part in Bergwijn's goal. 7

Harry Winks

Added some fresh legs to the midfield for the final 15 minutes. 6

Steven Bergwijn

Continued his brilliant fortnight, running on to the ball after Lucas dribbled through and was tackled and the Dutchman buried it confidently. Just the cameo he needed. 8
