Spurs manager Antonio Conte brands Julian Nagelsmann of Bayern Munich 'disrespecful' over Harry Kane comments

Spurs manager Antonio Conte at Ibrox today

SPURS manager Antonio Conte tonight branded his Bayern Munich counterpart Julian Nagelsmann “disrespectful” for stating publicly that he wants to sign his striker Harry Kane.

Nagelsmann is looking to bring in a new centre forward before the new season gets underway following the departure of Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona earlier this month.

He confessed that he was an admirer of Kane, who has two years left on his current contract at the London club, this week but admitted the England captain may be too expensive for Bayern.

The 28-year-old, who scored twice in the second-half as Spurs ran out 2-1 winners over Rangers in a pre-season friendly at Ibrox this afternoon, revealed that he wanted to move on last year.

However, he committed his future to the Premier League club when Conte was appointed manager in November and the Italian was unhappy with Nagelsmann’s comments.

“Honestly, I did not hear this,” he said. “For sure I am a coach that does not speak about other players at other teams.

“I don’t know why (Nagelsmann spoke about Kane). The situation with Tottenham is very clear, the plan is very clear with the club. He is a part of the project, an important part of the project.

“At the same time, I don’t like to speak about the players of other clubs. If I want to do something I go and I speak with the club and don’t go through the media.

“Maybe it is a bit disrespectful of the other club. This is my way of dealing with the situation with other players.”
