Gold Coast outside back Treymain Spry has recovered from last year's horror one-punch attack to land a new two-season NRL deal with the Titans.
A powerful ball runner when at his best, Spry played five games in his rookie season of 2020 and was eying a return to the NRL last year when attacked while out in Brisbane last March.
Cleared by police of any wrongdoing, Spry was left with a fractured skull, broken eye socket and bleeding on the brain from the one-punch attack.
The injuries ruled him out for the majority of 2022, before returning to play six games for Tweed Seagulls in the Queensland Cup on a modified training program.
Spry will this year form part of the Titans' top-30 squad, and will fight for a spot in the centres or on the wing for the round-one clash with Wests Tigers on March 5.
"Treymain's journey has been interrupted, but after some adversity he is very keen to make sure he grabs the opportunity to play footy at the highest level," coach Justin Holbrook said.
"Treymain is a natural footballer and is the type of player that can make things happen with the ball in hand.
"He's given fans a short glimpse of his talent in his debut season and Queensland Cup games, but we believe he has plenty to give at NRL level.
"Treymain will continue to work hard on his game and I am keen to see what he can achieve."
