Springholm Primary pupils enjoy various projects after Christmas holidays

Pupils at Springholm Primary have been working on a variety of projects since they returned from the holidays.

The P1/2 class’ current topic is vets and pets, which involves a role play corner set-up like a vets surgery where they can dress up and act out what happens.

Pupil James said: “The dog isn’t well because the machine isn’t beeping. I have to make him better.”

Their religious and moral education topic is based around the Bible story of Jesus feeding the 500. They made baskets using weaving and put the fish and loaves inside.

Meanwhile, the P5/6/7 class has been learning about Scotland and its physical features. They made a poster about Dumfries and Galloway that shows pictures and information about the region, what the land is used for, places to visit and places to work.

Jay said: “I have learned that the Merrick is a very big hill that is in Dumfries and Galloway”.

Isaac added: “I have learned that the highest village in Scotland is in Dumfries and Galloway. It is called Wanlockhead.”

They have also been learning the poem Tam o’ Shanter by Robert Burns for their poetry competition. As part of the work on this they have been recording themselves reciting the poem, creating their own art work using chosen media that reflects a part of the poem and playing a board game based on Tam o’ Shanter.

Rachel said: “I used pencil, pen and watercolours to create my picture of the devil that plays the bagpipes in the poem.”
