A major spring storm is expected to impact parts of New England, bringing heavy snowfall and rain to the region. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for several states in New England, with snow accumulations of 7 to 18 inches expected, and local amounts of up to 24 inches in higher elevations. The states of New Hampshire and Maine are likely to see the highest snowfall amounts.

The storm is forecasted to begin with a mix of rain and snow on Wednesday morning, transitioning to wet and heavy snow by evening and continuing through Thursday. This weather event may lead to extensive power outages in the affected areas. Maine officials have cautioned residents about difficult travel conditions, potential power outages, and minor coastal flooding.

Residents are advised to stay off the roads during the storm due to hazardous driving conditions. Emergency preparedness is recommended, including having essential supplies, alternative power sources, and fully charged mobile devices. Wind gusts of up to 60 mph are expected in eastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island, coastal Connecticut, and parts of Vermont, with flood watches in effect.

Meanwhile, heavy rains and severe thunderstorms are anticipated in the Mid-Atlantic states and Florida, posing threats of damaging winds and hail. In Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, heavy, wet snow is expected to persist into Thursday. This severe weather follows a series of storms that caused power outages and damage in several states across the nation.

In Oklahoma, three suspected tornadoes struck Northeastern parts of the state, resulting in heavy rain and the unfortunate death of a homeless woman in Tulsa. Kentucky also experienced severe weather, with multiple tornadoes touching down in various counties. Crews are assessing the damage and working on cleanup efforts.

Louisville, Kentucky, reported structural damage and minor injuries from the storms, with power outages affecting thousands of customers. Despite the challenges, communities have come together to support one another during this difficult time. Additional storms are expected to impact Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, and West Virginia in the coming days.
