Spotify Wrapped website is down - site crashes on launch day

Spotify Wrapped was supposed to make its web debut today, but the music roundup is suffering from technical issues.

Users who visit the Spotify website to view and share their year-end listening stats are being presented with an error message.

“Something's gone wrong,” reads the web page. “Refresh this page or try again later. It may take some time to get things up again.”

The website also shows an error 500 message, which indicates that it has suffering from unexpected issues.

It’s unclear what’s behind the problem. For what it’s worth, the Wrapped feature appears to be working fine on the Spotify app, which is where most people will probably access it. If you can’t see it on your iPhone or Android, make sure you update the app first.

Taking a page out of Apple Music’s book, Spotify decided to launch the feature on the web this year. Perhaps, the streamer wasn’t prepared for the influx of traffic from eager users keen to check out their stats online.

The Spotify Wrapped web page is showing the following error message (Spotify)

Wrapped arrived earlier this afternoon, bringing with it the annual rundown of music rankings. The likes of Taylor Swift, Drake, The Weeknd, and SZA dominated the general charts.

But, the best thing about the feature is its personalisation and its insights, which are getting quirkier with every passing year. Spotify introduced a bunch of new features this time, including a “listening character” based on the music you played the most. It also debuted a “sound town” perk that matched users with a city that reflected their tastes.

In addition, your top five genres were presented inside a sandwich-inspired visual. Teething issues aside, you still have more than a month to enjoy this year’s Wrapped. Spotify’s AI DJ will also be spinning tracks from your Wrapped over the next week. Plus, you can collab on a Wrapped playlist of your top tracks with your mates using the Blend feature.
