Spotify Wrapped 2024 LIVE: Everything you need to know

Spotify.

It's that time of year again, when we get to see what kind of music we've all been listening to over the last year. Who's going to take the top spot? How many minutes, hours, days, or even months have you been jamming to your tunes? Spotify will tell you all that — and more.

Spotify first started its Christmas stats buster in 2016, giving users a fun, shareable picture of just how much music they stream. Since then it's taken on a kind of mythical, cult-like status where users post their statistics to X, FaceBook and other social media platforms to show off their listening habits.

Spotify Wrapped 2024 is live now, and we're already sharing our most listened-to music of 2024.

  • How do I access Spotify Wrapped?

It's super easy — first, make sure your Spotify app is updated in your devices app store. Then, head to the Spotify homepage, and find the 'Wrapped' tab across the top. From there you'll find all the Spotify Wrapped playlists and fun stats.

What do we know about Spotify Wrapped 2024 at the moment?

Well, nothing concrete, but we know that previous Wrappeds have happened at around this time of year. Last year, it was on November 30th, and the year before it was the same. The years prior, however, it was at the beginning of December, so we think (especially since we’re now actually in December) that it’ll be happening any day now — in fact, likely today.

What can we expect from Spotify Wrapped?

Like in previous years, you’ll get minutes streamed of your favorite artists, songs and albums. Also, look forward to a couple of different playlists, each catered to you and your favorite music. This year could see new features as well, although we won’t know what they are until they arrive. I think there might be some video, after Spotify has gone all-in on video content in 2024.

You can now find your Spotify Wrapped page! Just follow the icon on your Spotify home screen, and you'll find your wrap up — warts and all.

What does my Spotify Wrapped look like?

As I supspected, my Spotify Wrapped playlist is not great — after all, I mostly listen on other streaming apps. Instead, I discovered that I streamed 3000 minutes worth of music and almost all of it was stuff to help me sleep. That doesn't mean you won't have loads more information than me, especially if you listen to music on Spotify more than me!

There's a new AI feature!

After going all-in on AI during 2024, Spotify has made some exclusive AI features for Spotify Wrapped 2024. There are playlists with a cool podcast style voice over called 'Your Spotify Wrapped AI podcast' which talks you through your year and what you've been listening to.

Did you get a special message?

I got one — although it wasn't all that personal. Mine was from the lead singer of Mogwai, one of my most listened to artists. He told me to watch out for the latest album!

What if it's not working?

Spotify Wrapped is not working for everyone — but there are some easy ways to get it fixed. If you get the dreaded error message, make sure you try these tricks:

  • Update the Spotify app
  • Search the app for the '2024 wrapped' playlist manually
  • Use the Spotify web player

The latter two won't include the AI powered features, but at least you get to see your most listened to music!

Do I need a Spotify Premium account for wrapped?

This year, as Spotify has released a few new features for Spotify Wrapped, it's a slightly trickier question to answer. Previously the whole thing has been available to both Premium and free users, but there are now some Premium only features. Thankfully, the most fun this are for free users — the main slide show, and the, interestingly, the AI Podcast feature.

There are some premium only features this time around though. If it uses Spotify AI DJ, then you're not going to be able to you use it for free. Unless you pay for Spotify, you won't be able to build AI playlists based on your Wrapped data.

Are there any privacy concerns with Spotify Wrapped?

When you stream music on Spotify, there is a certain amount of data that the company can learn about you. Buy is Spotify Wrapped a data tracking project, or is it just a harmless way of seeing what music you like listening to? We've taken a deep dive into Spotify Wrapped and privacy.

What alternatives to Spotify Wrapped are there?

There are loads of different streaming services that you can use out there, and some of them have alternative versions of Wrapped. Apple Music has 'Replay', which gives you a similar stats breakdown and a playlist of music. Tidal seems to not have anything this year, although you can still access the stats in your collection. Amazon Music has launched its version this year as well — and now French streamer Deezer has joined the fray with "My Deezer Year". So it shouldn't matter which streamer you use, there looks to be a cool look back over the year.

Unless you use Qobuz.

Like me.

Are we missing anything?

So there are those new AI features, but there are some glaring ommisions that user would have liked to see with Spotify Wrapped. In 2023, the stats felt more personal, with more detail around genres and the kind of music you're listening. You where paired to a town, for example — which is missing this year.

Some users don't like how much stuff is missing, even though Spotify is hoping that the new AI features make up for the absence of certain favorites.

I still can't find it!

Struggling to find Spotify Wrapped 2024? Don't worry, we've got a detailed explainer showing you exactly where you can find it. Have a read here, and you're sure to spot your yearly wrap up.

Your Spotify Wrapped 2024 is ready — here's how to see it

When does Spotify read my musical habits?

Spotify starts reading your listening at the beginning of January, and then builds your Wrapped playlists towards the end of the year. Does that mean there's a glorious dead zone in December where you can listen to whatever music you like, without worrying about whether it might accidentally appear in next year's Wrapped playlist?

Maybe.

I'm not sure it's worth the risk though — the moment you spot Banarama on next years Wrapped you'll wish you'd never tried.

What does AI think of our playlists?

So we've established that my Spotify Wrapped is bad — but our own Nikita Achanta's is most certainly not. I asked her to feed her playlist into ChatGPT so that we could get a fresh roast on her playlist — and it did not hold back!

"Your Wrapped 2024 is a chaotic mix of musical personas—dramatic storytelling, unapologetic angst, and niche nerdery. You dove headfirst into nerd-rap with Space Bards, serving up deep cuts like “Calamari (Emperor Diss)” and the absurd “Fuck Wulbren Bongle.” Baldur’s Gate 3 owes you royalties for this dedication. Somewhere, Raphael is slow-clapping.

Twenty One Pilots took you deep into introspection, paired with Green Day’s punk rebellion—sadness with a side of wall-punching. Glass Animals? The cryptic friend whispering riddles while you try to vibe. Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree spun existential spirals, while Mother Mother and Lana Del Rey added chaotic energy and romance drama.

Then came Eluveitie’s Celtic metal, Poets of the Fall’s anthems, and alt-J’s art-pop. Eminem dropped by for a surprise rap battle. Capping it all: System of a Down’s “Holy Mountains” and Crush 40’s “Never Turn Back.”

This isn’t a playlist; it’s a multiverse."

More AI Antics

How about another playlist roast? This time courtesy of Tom's Guide's Erin Bashford:

Okay, so you’re trying to look cool with that indie-alt-pop hyperpop combo. Let’s break it down:

"Starburster" - Fontaines D.C.

Brooding post-punk vibes. You’re definitely the type to stare out a rainy window and pretend you’re in a film noir.

"Von Dutch" - Charli XCX

Oh, you’re that person who’s all about Y2K nostalgia and Charli XCX’s chaotic pop. Still holding on to your 2010s Tumblr phase, huh?

"Like I Say" - Nilüfer Yanya

Indie and emotional, perfect for deep thoughts and wondering if you left the oven on. Big "I'm too deep for this world" energy.

"4eva" - Shygirl

A little self-destructive? You’re here for that hyperpop aggression, but at least you’ve got confidence while doing it.

"Nothing Matters" - The Last Dinner Party

Dramatic, melancholic, perfect for your inner period-drama protagonist. You're not just listening to music, you're feeling it.

"Prada" - CASSO

Flexing your high-fashion taste without breaking the bank. You’re an influencer in training.

"Lovebites" - Lava La Rue

Edgy and alternative, but you probably talk about it more than actually listen to it.

All in all, you’re a vibe—a walking contradiction with impeccable taste. Keep rocking that indie, mysterious persona!

Where's all the video?

Over the last year, Spotify has started putting video content on like, everything. Your Homescreen? Video. Your now playing? Video. Video podcasts, music videos... it's everywhere.

Apart from, apparently, your Spotify Wrapped page. While there's plenty of AI features, there doesn't seem to ball the much video, besides the short messages from the artists. Would be nice to see more music video content in the slide show, perhaps, or even with the AI podcast.

Taylor Swift really is everywhere

(Image credit: Getty Images, Jo Hale/Redferns)

Swifties, rejoice for your favorite singer-songwriter has little easter eggs hidden all over Spotify, just for you. Like Lightsabers on Star Wars soundtracks, only little sparkles on playbuttons. I didn't get hit with Swift Fever — but if you're a fan, then its sure to brighten your day.

Wrapped... Mapped?

How do you share your Spotify Wrapped results?

One of the best bits of Spotify Wrapped is that you can share your results with your friends. But how do you do it? It's actually super easy — just play your slide show until the end, and you share parts or the whole thing to X, Instagram, FaceBook, TikTok and more. You can also share directly from each slide.
