Spotify warns users they could miss Wrapped 2024 by making this simple mistake

The only annual roundup that actually moves the pop culture needle is fast approaching.

We’re talking about Spotify Wrapped 2024, of course, that annual smorgasbord of music data bundled in a highly shareable package.

Yes, you’ve probably been listening to the same three artists for the fifth year in a row, but how else are you going to remind your mates how big of a Swiftie or Sabrinator you are?

To get everyone hyped about the imminent arrival of Wrapped 2024, Spotify has been dropping hints about the yearly showcase, including in-app reminders and new artist-inspired logos on social media.

But, more important than all of those teasers, is the company’s new announcement. Spotify is warning fans that, if they don’t keep their Spotify app updated, they’ll risk missing out on their Wrapped data.

So, if you have disabled automatic app updates on your iOS or Android phone, now’s the time to switch them back on. The same goes if you have toggled off downloads over cellular data (while this eats into your data allowance, it will ensure you get the latest version of Spotify while on the go).

How to enable automatic app updates

You can do so by going to Settings > App Store and adjusting the App Updates option on iPhone. If you have an Android phone, such as a Samsung or Google Pixel, you can adjust these controls via the Google Play Store under Settings > Auto-Update Apps.

To turn on cellular data downloads, go to Settings>Apps> App Store > and switch on cellular data.

Otherwise, you will miss out on the “fully optimized Wrapped experience”, Spotify warns, including the ability to seamlessly share your listening trends on TikTok and Instagram.

Having the most up-to-date version of Spotify also means you can instantly access the latest features, from the AI DJ to custom playlist cover art.

How to manually update Spotify

However, despite automatic updates being enabled by default, there’s another reason why it can be worth manually checking for updates from time to time.

That’s because automatic updates don’t mean instantaneous updates. So, even when a newer version of an app you’ve downloaded is available, your phone may not install it straightaway.

To manually update Spotify, or any app for that matter, do the following:

When is Spotify Wrapped 2024?

So, when can you get your hands on all that juicy data? Although nothing is confirmed, we can probably expect Wrapped 2024 to drop in early December, based on Spotify’s historical release patterns.
