Karaoke fans who have dreamt of belting out covers of their favourite tunes on Spotify will soon get their wish, thanks to the streaming service’s latest update.
It is their biggest update since its unwrapped feature as well as the ability to hide and unhide songs, and it will soon be rolling out its new feature to IOS and Android users. Most songs on Spotify now have the lyrics feature, where you can read the words while songs are being played – a very handy addition if there’s one line of a classic from bygone years that you just can’t make out what it is, be it Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody or Heartbreak Hotel by Elvis.
To access this all new attribute, start by the song you want to listen to, then scroll down to find the lyrics. If you have the most recent update, you will see a button labelled ‘sing’ in the top right corner.
Once you’ve hit the button, a different style of lyrics screen will pop up showing line-by-line, just like a karaoke machine. Then sing your heart out and like some corny reality TV show judge, you will be judged on your effort and will receive a percentage score.
The update will be available within the next two weeks. Spotify will also be releasing a new 'supergrouper' feature that allows users to create their own supergroup of up to five artists, which the service will use to generate a playlist incorporating all your favourite artists.
