Spotify is down with users forcibly logged out and left unable to reset password

Music streaming service Spotify is reportedly down with thousands of users left unable to log on to the platform. The issue is understood to have begun shortly after 6pm today (March 8).

Users have found that when they try to listen to some music they have been logged out of their Spotify account and their password no longer works. Making matters work, the option to reset their password is also unavailable.

Spotify has not clarified what the issue with its service is. However, its official Twitter account that monitors its service status (@SpotifyStatus) has confirmed there is an issue.

A tweet from the account read: "Something’s not quite right, and we’re looking into it. Thanks for your reports!"

It is unknown how long the service outage will continue or what has caused the problem.

Many users of the platform have taken to Twitter to complain about the lack of service.

One user, Thangkhup (@alexsandros22) said: "I thought my Spotify was hacked but it's just down."

While another user, Sarah D. (@SarahDSkis) asked: "Anyone else just randomly get logged out of Spotify and now it says their account doesn’t even exist? #spotify #FirstWorldProblems"
